Dr. Madison and I met when I began my journey of reducing neck and back pain through getting regular adjustments. I’ve learned so much from her through being a patient, having her speak at my last workshop back in February, and now inviting her on the show to share with you!
Dr. Madison is Functional Medicine Practitioner and Chiropractor at Great Lakes Health and Wellness in Ohio. She earned her Doctorates in Naturopathic Medicine and Chiropractic and she is passionate about treating and supporting her patients in finding the root cause of disease and dysfunction. She does so using individualized and thorough assessment of their diet, lifestyle, past medical history, habits, and uses cutting edge laboratory testing to further assess the patient on a deeper level. This allows her to create a personalized treatment plan for her patients, using dietary recommendations, nutraceuticals, herbal formulations, and lifestyle optimization tools.

Her Functional Medicine appointments are virtual! She has particular interests in pre-conception support, Women’s Health, hormone regulation, endocrine dysfunction, gut health, blood sugar optimization and autoimmunity.

65. How to practice grounding (with a busy schedule)

How often do you use “having a busy schedule” as an excuse not to prioritize mindfulness?
This morning, I woke up with a knot in my neck. I have been staying up later than normal, have a lot to do, can’t shut off my brain, and haven’t been feeling as energized as usual.
When this happens, I know immediately that something needs to change. I notice that I start lying to myself as to why I can’t prioritize self-care even though I have control over my schedule 75% of the week.
This typically means swapping my first hour of computer work for stretching and yoga. Swapping any “extras” on my calendar for time at home. Swapping expectations of finishing an endless to-do list for getting the bare minimum done so that I can slow down my pace.
This week’s episode is for those of us who are TOO BUSY to spend 4 hours every day spent in self-care which, tbh, is most of us.

A good place to become aware of how often we complain. It’s completely normal for things not to be sunshine and rainbows all of the time, but when we become aware of our thoughts, words, and actions, we are faced with the reality that we are currently creating.
When you think, speak, and act in accordance with positive energy, you create more of that around you.
When you think, speak, and act in accordance with annoyances/complaints, you affirm them and therefore, create MORE of that.
